Introduction

Basic and Advanced Life Support for confirmed or suspected COVID-19 patients is different. We have created a guideline to describe our hospital approach, with supporting cognitive aids and demonstration video.

Target Audience

• All medical and nursing staff involved in the care of confirmed or suspected COVID-19 patients

Learning objectives

• Understand that suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients receive modified Basic and Advanced Life Support in the event of a Code Blue – referred to as a Protected Code Blue (PCB)
• Understand how a Protected Code Blue differs from standard Basic and Advanced Life Support
• Understand the level of PPE required at different stages of a Protected Code Blue
